Gender Equality

The Norwegian Railway Directorate works actively to promote gender equality and has a Gender Equality Plan in place for this purpose.

Active efforts to promote gender equality and prevent discrimination are mandated by the Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act, the Working Environment Act, the central government’s framework agreement, the central government’s collective agreements and the government’s employer policy.

Gender Equality Plan

The Norwegian Railway Directorate has an action plan for gender equality. We have identified all the areas mentioned in the legislation and have implemented measures to adress them. This applies to recruitment, pay and working conditions, promotion and development opportunities, reasonable adjustments, and the opportunity to balance work and family life. In addition, we work to prevent harassment, sexual harassment and gender-based violence.

Figures on equality and diversity

The Norwegian Railway Directorate reports on equality and diversity in its annual report. In it, you can see

  • the percentage of women by job category and women’s pay as a percentage of men’s pay
  • the percentage of women and men in relation to registered part-time staff, temporary staff, overtime and parental leave
  • sick leave broken down by women and men
